This maybe a stupid question but i just bought a CRKT m16 le and have no idea what the proper way of closing it is. i have never had a knife that uses this locking system. thanks

If it has the LAWKS system, you have to push it backward first (it's above the pivot). For the liner lock: you see the piece of metal that is bent towards the middle of the handle? you have to push that out of the way (to the left) then close the blade.

LE have LAWKs (later than the early plain M16s w/o them). Pull the little lever that rotates around the pivot back, and then it's just like any other liner lock, meaning, move it (it should obstruct the blade from closing when engaged) and flip it shut/

heh, when i first got my m-16le, my biggest problem was trying to get it open. i kept looking to see what was keeping the blade from opening. turns out, the detent was very stiff, and it just took a good hard press on the "flipper" to get 'er to open... a year later, and the thing is still a bear to open. you literally cannot use the thumb stud to open it, unlike my m-16 12z.

abe m.

Just use the flipper, the studs are there as blade stops only, anyways. Sweep your index finger stright back (towards the backof your knife) and it flies

Just study the knife for a while, you'll figure it out. And for goodness sake be careful!!
