closing blade with spring depressed, a no no?

I sometimes open and close my sr 1 lite blade by pinching the knife with my middle finger and thumb and using my index finger to actuate the spring. And sometimes the blade closes before my index finger gets off the spring. Some have complained about dull spots on their sr 1 blades but most have not. I think this might explain why, when I turn the closed knife blade up, and depress the spring all the way, the blade will lift when the spring get almost fully depressed. What else could cause this except for the internals of the knife pushing on the blades edge? will any of your springs move the blade when fully depressed? my spartan and voyagers don't.

I've closed the regular way ,about a zillion times, with no problem .

Should be OK though , unless you allow blade to close completely while still pressing the release , which serves no purpose .

My Tuff Lite blade will lift slightly if I depress the lock bar all the way, so something must be moving it. Looking inside a typical TA lock, Recon1 in this case, it appears possible the lock bar could rotate and contact the blade if pushed far enough. Based on that, I would advise against doing this unless you find some real benefit to it. I don’t see one, personally.

I agree, avoid doing so.

I had the same experience. During a break-in period, I was fooling around and not thinking straight, and I depressed the lock bar while my Voyager was closed, and the lock bar hit the blade and left a ‘flat’ spot. Not completely flat, but you could see clearly that the lock touched the edge and dulled it a tiny bit. Lesson learned.

I open and close all the CS's I have like that on occasion (just for giggles) and the SR is the only one I have that dings the blade. Which is kind of a bummer.
