Closing/Merging My Thread in Customs With One in Outdoor Gear

I started two threads over the weekend about a new knife system that I completed/am offering now. I posted a thread about it in Survival Gear, because it is geared toward that crowd, and we have a discussion going on about it already. I also posted a simpler, shorter thread about it in Customs, with pictures of the workmanship, and linked to the more detailed thread. Yesterday, the thread in Customs was closed/merged with the one in Survival Gear.

I now understand that there is a policy about having two threads on the same topic, but I think this is a poor application of that policy. I stated clearly in the thread in Customs that I posted it there because I wanted the perspective of the Customs crowd, who usually have a different outlook on knives than the Survival Gear crowd. I wanted both perspectives, so I can put out the best work I can, and I don't usually see the same folks frequenting both sub-forums.

I sent a PM to one of the Mods in Customs last night trying to figure out what happened, but haven't heard back yet. I found out this morning after speaking with another mod after I started another thread in Customs about the rule. Again, I understand there is a policy in place, but how else can I get the feedback of both sets of people, both with valuable but different outlooks? I am not spamming anyone, and I am a paid contributor to the site. I don't expect special treatment, but this is partly how I feed my family, and would just like what I would consider a reasonable application of the rules, in this case.

I don't have an axe to grind with anyone, but I would appreciate it this would be explained to me more clearly, so I can understand it, and not waste anyone's time on stuff like this in the future, and/or have my thread in Customs closed again. Thank you in advance for you help,

Hi Sam,

The moderator advised you correctly. We discourage and merge duplicate topics.
We do so because if everyone were doing it the forum would be an absolute mess.
If you wish your thread moved to another forum, for other feedback, we would happily do so at your request. This is preferable to the posting of duplicate topics in multiple forums. I hope you understand.

Karda,

Thank you for explaining it to me. I understand now, at least. I have to say, I don't particularly agree with the application of the rule. I understand the spirit of it, but in a case where two sets of perspectives are wanted, as in this case, many of the commenters in Customs don't spend a lot of time cruising/commenting in Outdoor Gear, and vice versa. Both sets can provide valuable insight for a maker and his audience. I do understand the idea of people just posting multiples all over the place, though.

But I also understand it's the mods jobs to enforce/apply those rules, not necessarily make them. No hard feelings, and thank you for your time and explanation.

I moved your entire thread in outdoors (with redirect) and merged it with the additional thread you made again in customs.
