Please forgive me if I am wrong , but I thought lockback folders were supposed to kind of snap shut once you lowered the blade about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way down. i just bought my first buck folding hunter, and not only does it not snap shut, sometimes the point does not go completely inside the knife. I have to take extra care to insure it is completely closed. I bought this for a "user" knife, so it does not bother me too much, but I am wondering if they all close this gently. Should I return it? I bought it from K-Mart, but do not have my receipt. It is brand new. Thanks, Rob

Rob, your 110 is definately not functioning properly. Return it or send it into Buck. First you might try some lube, but if that doesnt work send it back. With my 110, right after the blade reaches midpoint you better make sure your fingers are out of the way. It comes down fast and hard. Alex

Take it back and exchange it. Open the new one in the store and check it out before you take it from the store.

Buck is absolutely amazing about keeping your knife in perfect working order but this time just let the store work it out.

The knife will work the way you expect it to if you exchange it.

thanks for the responses. I put a good treatment of white lightning on my new Buck and it is working better, now. I am hoping it will gadually get "snappier" over time. thanks again, rob

I wouldn't even mess with it. Just take it back. A 110 should snap back like the jaws of a gator closing!!!

I took it back and told them what was going on and they used my other knife ( a CRKT Mirage ) to cut the packing on another buck 110 to get the knife out and do a swap. They are sending the other one back as a defective unit. The new one is actually only about thirty percent better "snappier" than the one I traded in. The limited edition ( Wyatt Earp 110) is better than both of these in the closing department. Maybe this new one will close a bit more smoothly as time goes on... thanks for the responses. rdogout

Yes sir, this one is going to be "just fine"!
I feel this knife is well worth the cost. stay safe, rob
