Closing windows and cookie problems

Since the software change I've been having a problem everytime I get on BFC. I don't know if it's the new software or some problem with my system. At some point in my forum browsing I'll open a thread and it will shut down the window with BFC open all together. It is never the same thread two days in a row, but if there is a problem with a thread it happens every time I open it during that session. I am using Internet Explorer 5. Sometimes it just gives me a window that the IE window is going to be shut down, and sometimes it gives me an error warning first. Here are the details from a couple of the error warnings if it helps.

The other problem I've had is with the cookies. They work fine unless I open a few other sites. When I get back to BFC the cookies are all reset. This happens without me closing the window BFC is on, and that never happened before. Perhaps it's a by-product of the dynamic pages?

Any light you can shed on these problems is much appreciated.

Anybody got a suggestion? This is the only site I've been on that makes its window shut down.

Explorer routinely causes invalid page faults (and other browsers do too -- it's not really a Microsoftsux thing this time, it's more a webbrowsersareinaprocessofdevelopment thing). The only unusual thing is you say there are certain threads that always cause a crash ... until the next day. That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense....

I suggest next time your browser crashes reboot your system and then go right back to the same thread. I don't think your browser will crash again on the same thread, not if you restart Windows after the first crash. Browser crashes are usually pretty random....

It won't hurt to go get any updates at the Microsoft website that you don't already have -- Windows updates as well as Explorer updates if they look at all like they might be related.

What I don't understand is why this doesn't happen on any of the other forums or assorted websites that I visit in a week. And it happens every time I come to BFC. I have tried rebooting, and the problem thread will be OK after that, but another one will take the roll. If I skip the problem thread after returning to BFC and look at several other threads then I can go back to the problem thread without incident. Threads with pictures loaded directly to BFC seem to be culprits about 75% of the time, but not every time.

I will make sure my browser is updated fully, and see what that does.
