Hi,some questions for forunites.
Somebody can show a ranking list weight Vs thermal performance of the differents cloths in market i.e. Thinsulate fibers, duct feather, Polartec ..... for two differents situations first walking situation a lot of sweat ;-) and the second stand at camp resting.
Other questions I see that military people wear their pants into his boots and the most treeking people over their boots.
Which is the best way? which are the pros and cons of each one?
Thanks for your attention.
Enjoy

The Military people that have their pants in their boots actually have their pants bloused using blousing straps to be even with the tops of the boots. They are not actually tucked in.

What Tombstone said about blousing rubbers is true, at least in garrison. It's faster using the elastic bands to make it "look like" you've bloused your trousers into your boots than to actually tuck them in and arrange them to look right.

Pants over the boot:
Good points:
- gives better air flow up & down your pant leg to ventilate as you are walking along.
- sheds debris, dust, embers, rain, & other things falling from above so they don't get caught between your ankle and your boot or get into your boot.
Bad points:
- gives better cold air flow up & down your pant leg, chilling your legs when first moving around in chilly morning air.
- if you step into deep mud or sand, it allows your pant leg to ride up on your leg and gives the mud/sand access to the top of your boot.

Pants bloused into tops of boots:
Good points:
- also sheds to a large degree the debris, dust, embers, rain, & other things falling from above so they don't get caught between your ankle and your boot or get into your boot.
- helps keep cockle burrs and other spiky seeds off your socks.
- helps keep brambles from exposing your leg to scratching if the bramble snags your pant leg. You can still get scratched through your pant material by the bramble thorns, same as always.
- if you step into deep mud or sand, helps keep out the mud/sand from getting into your boots & all over your lower leg.
- helps keep cold air from circulating around your legs early in the morning.
Bad points:
- when you are active & hiking around, the lack of influx & outflow of air around your legs can get really hot & sweaty.
- where you fold the pant leg to fit into the boot can put wrinkle patterns on your leg.
