Good morning, all. We just finished installing a plasma CNC at the makerspace where I'm in charge of the metal shop and I'm trying to come up with a way to prevent arc flash from random members or members of the public when walking through the shop. One relatively easy solution would be to weld up a couple more frames for welding curtains, to surround the table, but these take up space that is now at a premium in our shop. I was thinking of something like this in the video, but am concerned about damaging the torch due to concentrating any heat/sparks in the shroud. I realize that the coolant will also be concentrated in the shroud, so this may keep things cool. Not having much (or any) experience with CNC plasma cutters I'd like folks with more experience to tell me if this is a good or bad idea.
Thank you and have a good week.
