Hi everybody
Im on the process of choosing and purcheasing a knife and ive narrowed the list to the following makers. Oz Roosevelt, Herman, Holt, Shiro and Koenig.
I am from Europe and have only been able to experience a Herman but none of the others. For those of you who have experienced any of these i would like you to share your experience and opinions on it and how it compares to the others (if you had handle them).
Thanks everyone

To me, Koenig is the best of the bunch. I've had everything listed here except the Herman. The only one I still have is the Koenig Arius. Multiple ways to deploy. Deploys with authority. Comfortable in the hand. Simple to maintain...makes a CRK look difficult by comparison. No free spinning pivot.

The Oz is the hot item right now, but I think it's way overrated, even at MSRP. Pros wise, it's extremely light, and it has one of the crispest actions I've ever felt. The resale is still solid, though it's coming down. But it's ergonomics, to me at least, are awful. Maybe I would have gotten used to it, but every time I opened it, I would have to shift my hand to lock in because of the over the top scallops in the handle. On the other hand, no matter how I open the Arius, it melts into my hand.

I have three of them (Herman, Shiro and Koenig). The Koenig is a solid knife, great snap, does not fit my hand well. Just received the Herman and it is a nice knife, Not as snappy solid as the Koenig, better blade grind in my opinion and I like the workmanship. The Shiro is my favorite of the three. It is solid, snappy and just feels right. Great blade grind (as good as the Herman), Smoother.

In terms of fit and finish and overall quality what would be your opinion? From what ive seen action is really good on all three so i dont think thats gonna be key for me.

Very similar, I think the Herman is the nicest designed and best attention to detail, I think the Shiro is the most pleasing to carry (just like the feel of it), the Koenig is nicely put together and well built, just not my favorite.

Thats interesting, thanks for the explanation

Just remember with shiro, that they are all very very different. I've had their frame lock and their liner lock. The liner lock shiro, I will admit, is amazing. I had an F3NS. Action was amazing. The problem is how fat that knife is. If you're a bigger guy or like thicker handles, you will like it. Their frame lock knives, especially the smaller ones, are notorious for lockbar death. I had a neon NL, and if I so much as touched the lockbar, it would not open. Maybe oldrifleman (cool name btw) can share a different experience. My particular arius is a newer one and seems to have a lighter detent, so it suffers from no lockbar death whatsoever.

I only carry small knives so the only shiro i consider is the neon
