At somewhere around 23 to 27 minutes after the hour my wife called me to watch Headline News, which was doing a deal on Highland Games now going on in Scotland.

One of the videobytes was of some lassies dancing over a baskethilt and it's scabbard crossed on the ground. Some kind of victory dance, they were saying, originally for the men, but now the lassies were taking it over.

Might be interesting to some of you.

I just returned from Scotland and while I didn't attend the Highland Games we did see the Military Tattoo in Edinburgh. In attendance were a regiment of Gurkha bagpipers, no kilts and (gasp) no khukris. The kilted Scots Highlanders all carried the traditional Skean dhu (Black knife) in their stocking tops. I had a Spyderco Cricket in my pocket.

Thanks, Rusty. As far as I know we have only one Highlander customer. He's the fellow who got the first Gelbu Special.

Thanks Rusty. I would enjoy seeing whatever is broadcast of the games.

I've been thinking of going down to Grandfather Mountain to the annual games ever since we moved back east to Maryland (15 years ago). Haven't made it yet, but we'll probably go down one of these years. Should be interesting.

Oh, just a side note, my ancestors name was originally Hirons. The 2 brothers who came over from Scotland dropped the H when they got to America.
