CO5 Standard Question

Recently entered in to the world of spyderco collecting and have purchased two CO5 Standards from old stock or private collections. I can't find much information on this model, but were there two versions of the knife? I have both a PE and a SE. The SE is heavier and has an additional spacer in the spine next to the lock. The handle also seems to feel different but is G10. Diferent tread pattern and tactil feel. The PE is much lighter and thinner.
I know some of you diehard spydermites will know the answers. Thanks, Chris

Chris:

Hope you're still enjoying the Standard. The steel liner was added mainly to anchor the clip screws to, as they tended to strip out of the G-10.

Great knife and Thanks again. Noticed you sold the military days after you shipped my standard. Really wish I had the $$$ together so I could have picked it up also.
Have been rotating everyday from one to other and wanted to find out the scoop on the spacer. Can it be removed to lighten the knife? Typically carry in my waist band so not a big deal in pants, but do feel the weight difference when in shorts.

;)

I don't think you could remove the liner as the screws would not be the correct length afterwards. If you think that little knife is heavy, check out the Gunting! Man, this thing is built like a tank!
