Here is a Coal Creek Forge hawk head that I etched and rubbed out to give it a sorta french grey patina before I etched it I sharpened it and then after etching I gave it a quick pass on a leather wheel if ya look close you can just see the glint of polished steel at the edge I put it on a curly maple haft not to fancy because I like this Hawk head so much it has to be a user. I am telling you this hawk is nasty. It has a lot of power and this guy makes a great hawk head. It feels almost like a war hammer if ya know what I mean. Thanks Bud for a great piece.. I had to put in this Shiva Ki fighting bowie they just go together I know the wood does not match Ki does a gloss handle and the Hawk haft is hand rubbed but I was not about to put a gloss finish on this haft to hard to touch up. My clothes do not match so why should my weapons:D
Ki etches his blades so I think the hawk head looks pretty good. I used some animal taxidermy bases I have around for a back ground and it was a snowy cold day to play around I just finished the hawk this morning I hope you guys like it

Love the way you contribute 'round here, Joe.
I'm gonna' have to quit screwing around and get some photography accomplished.
Got your invite in the other thread, we'll see what happens next year and thanks.
Nice work on that hawk and you know I dig that big Shiva Bowie.

That turned out nice Joe. Tung oil makes a nice durable finish and in my opinion would be perfect for this haft.

Thanks guy's I apreciate all the comments.

John I have one more hawk to mount up it has a bronze black patina that is very rich and a deep oil finish will really set it off thanks for the input.

I'm looking for a hammer poll 'hawk just that size. Is anyone on here making them? This would be a working 'hawk so a simple ash or hickory haft would suit me fine. :)

Guys look on the tomahawk forum

There you will find Steve from Coalcreek Forge he will make you what ever you want and he does a great job

Beautiful "sharp tools", Joe, made for actual use!
I like this...

All the best,

Wicked, Joe! You'll never have to get them wet as I believe your enemies would faint if you charged them with those bad boys.

Really like that hawk and would love to see the bronze black patina one when you're ready to show it.

Thanks Rob and Roger

Did you guys know this thread is 4 years old :)

Happy new year my friends

Looks awesome Joe. Better not let me near it or I'll probably throw it at something. :D
