Friends,

I purchased two of these knives from different Sellers on a certain internet auction. :) Nice looking both of them, however one came with a COA with a different number than engraved on the knife itself while the other came with a COA with NO number on it and no number engraved on the knife.

The Seller who sold me the one with a COA with different number was clueless as to how he got the incorrect COA (so he said) and it was the only one he had. He agreed to lower the selling price to me and I am ok with that but I am really stumped by the second one that has no number on the COA and no number on the knife.:o

Has anyone had a similar experience? Will Buck re-issue a correct COA?
As both are gifts for non-collectors it is really not a critical issue for me but sure has me wondering. Comments? This is a 526IC model.

Do the boxes each have the exact same model and catalog number? Do the two blades have the same tang stamp? Are both blades mirror polished? Are there other minor differences in the two knives?
Sometimes, Buck does a special project that is only slightly different than another one and not all projects are serialized. Also, Buck has occasionally had a special project customer fail to follow through on the entire project and then they are left with excess knives to sell. Often, these "leftovers" are never serialized.

Jim/Larry,

I think the mystery is now solved. Both of mine state they are Model 526IC, the boxes are labeled the same, both are 2004 models, etc. I obviously got one of each, that is, one is serialized and one is not. In any case I paid less than half of the suggested retail Buck price and the Cabella price, so I guess I have no complaints. Curious if Cabellas just bought up what Buck had left that was unserialized to sell "exclusively". Maybe Joe Houser will comment here. Thanks to both of you for your input!

It is sometimes impossible to figure these things out for sure but I am guessing that Larry nailed it. That just sounds right.
