I got one of their Christmas specials and it came out of the bubble pack nice and sharp.

Does Coast make them in house or are they contacted out to another knife maker?

I have doubts they are made by an actual knifemaker, most of their stuff even the flashlights are made in china. Id imagine whatever factory over there is willing to make how coasts wants it for the price they can sell it for is the one who makes it.

Probably a good idea to just check out their website... http://www.coastportland.com/

I have a couple of their fixed blades (a skinner, a Sharpfinger, and a folding saw) from several years ago when they were made with 440C.

Doesn't look like they make too many fixed blades anymore, and the folders primarily use 3Cr13 to 9Cr18 now.

Thanks they are getting a lot of love over at the High Road website. Sorry I'm not up to speed on Knife steel composition.
