hey guys, quick question. when the battle mistress goes up for sale i will be acquiring my first busse and it will definately be a "user". the thing thing is, i hate how all blade coatings look with use... any chance that the battle mistress will have a satin/beadblasted/double cut offering available from the shop without going "custom"? this is the the only mod of any type i would really really like to have and i just don't wan't to take a chance by waiting and going after an extravaganza blade later as it seems those items are pretty hotly contested. along those same lines i guess, if you order a standard item but with only a special finish via the custom shop how much would it be and would i have to wait 4 years?!?!?! thanks for any help on the matter.

LOL, i plan on using this thing like stink and that is what it will end up looking like! i actually like the "look" of coated blades more that plain steel, just not after you actually use the knife...

I have the satin/double cut as well. In fact, I don't really care for coatings, just plain steel. Not a commando, don't need camo. But, finished bare steel is more difficult to obtain and more costly so I take what's available and don't mind chewing up the finish on the blades.

I don't like coatings either (except maybe oil). When I get a user I automatically strip the paint and take most of the grind marks and dimples out of the finish. The stripping is really easy (Armor Coat - Paint & Varnish Remover). The grind marks and dimples are more of a problem and are the main reason for everything being coated (MUCH less surface preparation). Anyway, if you buff the blade when done, it will at least be shiny. There are a surprising number of bead blasters around too.

Well, if the Steel Heart was any indication, there will be a satin and DCBB option on the Battle Mistress. But things change, and the new machining technology wasnt available then, so in short ........ I have no idea, I know nothing, nothing!!!

thanks guys, guess i'll just have to wait and see.... anyone remember how much extra these finishes were on the steel heart? if i have to i will go urban grey but it is a bit frustrating since satin/matte is kind of the "standard" version with most knife brands with coatings costing extra. any guesses on release date? 2wks? 4wks? 6wks? i'm dying here!

05dr,
Welcome to the Busse forum. I think we'll all just need to wait and see, I'm sure it will be available but not sure of what it might cost.

Who are you!? And what have you done with Eric!!!???

Gotta admit that the coated busse knives look like a painted loose woman to me but I've got 2, Satin Jac and HH, both coated, but the indestructability of the knives outweighs the beauty factor. Maybe Jerry will take pity on the aesthetic hogs and get a huge run of uncoated for the trough.

And your issue with "painted loose women" is..........what next "I don't like cheap beer"? :D

"If it werent for cheap beer I'd have no beer at all!!!" :D:D:D

Any old-timers here remember a beer called "chug-a-mug?"
Had a wide mouthed top for chugging - wish I could remember who made it.

I thought he meant Mickey's Wide-Mouth. Some of the nastiest swill ever sold.
