Hi,

I have a Kershaw Storm 2 knife and it's one of the best working knives I have ever owned.

After many years of service I'd like to mod it by painting it (handle, clip and blade) in different colours (khaki and black colours).

Does anyone know how Kershaw paints it's line of knives (steel frame)? I'm looking for a Matt finish and wonder if we can do it easily with comparable results.

Cheers,

Walmart rattlecan

Just kidding. For a DIY thing Duracoat would probably be your best bet. Welcome to Bladeforums BTW!

Hi,

Thanks for the pointer, my 30+ Kershaw and ZT knives are looking very nervous now XD

Any pics of long term wear results of Duracoat on knives?

Cheers,

P.S. Factory uses DLC coating right?

ZT uses DLC, but kershaw uses "black non reflective coating" haha

Oh and BTW welcome to blade forums!

Yes I can see a slight difference between by Black Kershaw Boa and ZT 0200.

Cheers!

I think Kershaw and ZT both use DLC coating (Diamond Like Coating). Duracoat is very tough, hence DURAcoat for durability.

Duracoat or Cerakote should both work well, Sig Sauer uses Cerakote on their guns form the factory. The Storm 2 was my gate way knife into Kershaw, very good knife at a great price point. I need to go find mine, when I order my gun paint, I might make my storm match. You have good ideas. :D
