Coating removal...

I received this Busse Steel Heart II in a trade recently. The previous owner buffed the coating off. There are a few spots that were missed, (around the handle and on the butt). What method would you recommend to remove these spots? The bolts on the handle are polished flush on both sides, so I would not want to drill them out. The blade now has a mirror finish, (in the picture the blade appears to be discolored, but it is not).

Try a Dremel tool with a small wire wheel. it should do the trick.
