Anybody got any tricks to repair the black blade coating on a RMD? I tried a permanent black marker but it did not work. I have 2 spots on the middle of the choil and just need something black that will stick and blend back in. I figured someone had a trick for doing this. Thanks!

Leave the wear marks as a badge of honor. Each user has it's own personality.

why do you want to repair it? it's all going to wear in time. if you really need to cover it, just get a bottle of testor's model paint at a toy store or hobby shop and dab it on.

Ha! No honor in those marks and would just be a reminder of my stupidity. I was trying to thin the edge down yesterday and got sloppy and was not in the zone, so to speak. I did not think of paint, I will try that, Thanks.

Beat the crap out of it and then strip it. Coatings will not last for ever and the blade actually performs/ cuts better without the coating anyway. Enjoy your RMD, I love mine.

Alumahyde II from Brownell's. It's epoxy based and has a flat texture to it. Probably not an exact match to the powder coat but it's the next best thing as far as durability. Sprays on like typical spraypaint but is much more durable. It flash dries in about 15 minutes and cures over a period of 3 days or so. I think a can runs around 12 bucks, but it's the hazardous material shipping that's expensive.

Thanks PayetteRucker,
That gives me a idea I might try with another similar product that is a epoxy that might just work.

I'm getting ready to start using my RMD hard, likely resulting in worn down coating. Is it possible to send knives back in to have the coating reapplied?

Moogoo,
I was thinking they have the new way of convexing, then applying the coating according to the new Boss Jacks. I was wondering if I could get that done? I am in the process of doing a convex and the coating is getting wore down above the edge. It would be so much easier to have them do it and fix the coating.
