does anyone have any experience with this material (F799-cobalt chrome)
Has anyone else made blades from it ?
I use to work in the medical field making artifcial implants (knees hips)
This material is used for hips i would forge it at 2000 degs, you have to move it 20% reduction to harden it per heat, What you end up with is a maximum hardness of 45 HRC.
Even in its soft state you can not cut it with anything less than carbide or abrasives and not very long with them.
This is some really cool stuff but at 70.00 a pound and only round stock not very practical 1lb = 1" round 2.250 long.
