When this arrived, I realized how awesome it really was. Stainless damascus by Freidrich "Fritz" Schneider, who pioneered the forging of stainless damascus in the early 80's. Cobra is thick silver over bronze with hematite eyes, by Parisian knifemaker and sculptor Jean-Marc Laroche. This was in Don Guild's collection for years, something I had been wanting, actually.

Amazingly balanced to the hand, right at the center of the Cobra's "neck". As well, amazing balance on the vertical, with balance being exacting, balance line drawn from tip to the mouth of the cobra. This means it achieves perfect balance when placed on it's tip. About a foot long.

Superb.

Care and feeding: One mongoose, monthly.

thats very cool

congrats

sheath ?

No sheath, but I'm going to have a very inconspicuous stand made that will hold it at the tip. As mentioned, it is vertically at balance when the Cobra's head is back, resting near the bladetip, ready to strike. So I'll get it mounted in a stand in that position.

that will look splendid

You certainly don't need a sheath for a piece like this but I had visions of a gold snake body:)

that's so awesome, Bob. I like where you're going with all this collectin stuff.
Is it just me, or are you branching out quite a bit these days?
Oh, and thanks for the new desk top:thumbup:

Lorien, an eyesight issue has made me venture, more or less, into a third area of collecting - "other".

knives are tactile objects and a good imagination can elevate a knife beyond just being an object. Apart from just seeing it.
Do you feel that some of your redirection has something to do with a new focus on your sense of touch, due to your eye trouble?
