Hey folks-

Instead of taking up space with two threads -

I know that a Cocobolo handled 5.5 Beret was made for NICA some years ago, but I haven't been able to find one anywhere. Are these still out there somewhere? This is like a holy-grail kind of knife to me - I can't believe the run was so short: Bring 'em back, CRK!!

Also, I've been looking for info on the Al Mar/CRK fixed knife; I can't find info detailing when these were made or for what purpose. I did a search here but got a whole lot of unrelated threads. Any suggestions or info??

Thanks in advance!!!

yes, I love them as well!....food for thought!:D

Chris has admired Al Mar's designs for many years and always considered his early work to be of classic lines. (By way of interest, we had known each other for less than a week when he gave me a tiny Al Mar folder that, 16 years later, I still carry in my purse everyday!) We have also known Gary Fadden, who is now CEO of Al Mar Knives, for years and, at various times, had discussed a collaboration of some kind.

We finally came to the point where we decided that we would both benefit from a joint project and this is the way it worked. We designed the knives, made them entirely and sold them all to Al Mar Knives. They then distributed them into the market.

Just for the record, the knives were fixed blades in our one piece concept, 200 in each size - blade lengths of 7.5", 5.5" and 4". All the knives were numbered and marked with our CR logo and the Al Mar chop. The sheaths also had both logos.

These knives, as with all our one piece fixed blades, are made of A2, heat treated to 55-57RC and the caps are of D65S aluminum and the sheaths are leather.

Thanks for the info on the Al Mar/CRK - I'll try to be more thorough in my next forum search attempt. I didn't know that these knives were so limited...but I like the design.

Speaking of limited, that pic just underscores my original post about the NICA CRK Beret: Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!

Ok, gotta find one somewhere...
