Hey, I was just looking on Cold Steel's official website to see what might be in the pipeline for 2015 and I noticed... the Code-4 wasn't listed on their website AT ALL.

I sincerely hope this awesome knife, which got my attention and patronage for Cold Steel, has not been discontinued. Can anyone verify if it has, however? If so, then I need to start getting the other variations of it.

I certainly hope the Code 4 is getting a blade steel upgrade like the rest of their models and is not gone for good.

Ooooh. Don't tempt me. I really hope that's the case, because a Code-4 in Carpenter steel? ...Shut up and take my money.

Why hope for an aluminum handle knife, why not bump up to titanium? I like where cold steel is going with their change in steel choice!

Eh. If it was a framelock, I would readily agree, but the aluminum works quite well and whatever anodizing that Cold Steel uses is pretty impressive. Using titanium might make it a fair bit lighter, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay for that advantage without also getting a titanium lock face/surface. Now, Carpenter blade steel? Oh yeah.

LOL, by the way, small world. I live in Conway.

Well said. For a lockback or triad lock knife, titanium just doesn't offer any advantage over aluminum IMO. The Code 4 handle is lightweight, thin, and strong. The anodizing gives it the same dark gray color I love about Ti without the added costs, and the coating is super tough.

Aluminium and Titanium are about the same weight by volume. Titanium is stronger. It combines the strength of steel with the weight of aluminium. Obviously when all you're doing is making a handle you're not gaining any benefit from the Titanium, just an increase in cost.

For me, Cold Steel's appeal is inextricably tied to cost. When the cost of a Cold Steel knife goes up (because of "better" steel or theoretical Ti scales), my interest goes down. But I understand that many of you cats are wanting the spendier steels.
