I LOVE Cold Steel's XL models! ❤️

ie. Voyager, Recon 1, Ti Lite, Talwar, etc.

No other knife production company makes knifes in these 5"-6" sizes.

Who else would love an XL version of the Code 4?

(Also please bring back the Talwars!)

4.5" yes. above 5" the silly handle sizes make the knife less useful. makes more sense to me to grab a fixed blade every time in that size or larger.

I thought I liked long blades until I bought a Voyager Vaquero and immediately returned it because it was so insanely large. LOL!

With just a few exceptions 4" is generally my limit for folder size; 4.5" being the absolute max. I've got a 4" Recon 1 Tanto and a 3.5" Code 4 Clip point and I think those blade length/sizes fit those knives best. Anything larger would throw off the proportions of the knives and make them unwieldy and less practical, IMO.

I would like them to make xl versions of all of their folders, so yes. Although the handle scales may be a little slick for a blade of that size. The long handle on the voyagers make the blade much more useful, not less. You can put your hand way back on the handles and have almost the same reach as a trailmaster and a great deal of leverage for hacking etc. Althogh not optimal, I’ve used my xl voyagers like this many times walking through the woods clearing out though pesky little vines from the walking path. Any I digress, the answer is yes.

I certainly would like an XL Code 4. I already have 14 XL CS knives and I'd love to add it to my collection. I don't think I'll ever buy the existing Code 4 because it's just one of countless folders in the 4"blade world. Cold Steel should have brought out an XL version as a matter of course. Nobody needs CS to bring out more small knives, the world is awash in them.

I like my XL's too but got the Code 4 cheap mostly for the aluminum handle. I think as such an XL Code 4 would be pretty hefty with a 5.5" or longer blade.

Addressing some concerns about a Code 4 XL's possible added heft or lack of grip due to a smooth aluminum handle, these might be some solutions:

1. Grip might be addressed with a black version with Black Type III HA Aluminum handle and Black Tungsten DLC Blade. If done correctly, the hard anodizing can offer usable amounts of grip. Going further, the aluminum can be machined with a groove pattern that increases grip like in certain CRK titanium handles and models. The machining would allow the Code 4 to retain the silver look vs a tactical black look that the recon 1 already perfected.

2. Weight concerns might be remedied by semi-skeletonizing out the interior facing sides of the aluminum handle slabs. I've seen steel handles processed this way to make the weight comparable to a titanium handle's weight.

I can't vote. One of the categories should have been, 'big, slippery blades scare me'.
I have a SS Spyderco Police I will trade you.;)

I love my Code 4. I use it about the house and garden, it is so good in the pocket and easy to extract.
I've never noticed a problem with the smooth scales, though I have never used it for prolonged periods. Actually, it would be unusual for me to use any folder for long, or hard use.
I wouldn't buy an xl version, but maybe plenty of other people might.

Wouldn't be to my personal taste. The regular Code 4 never interested me, cause I'm really not a fan of the metal handles, and beyond those it's not different enough from a Recon to justify buying one. And if the XL version had the metal handles as well, it wouldn't interest me much either.
