Codger
I saw some knive marked Schrade Walden amber stockmans knive made in the usa on ebay . New. Are these knive made by someomne Taylor LLC has licensed and if so who is making them? I believe the blades have everlasting sharp etched on them.

Codger there's another one marked this and states in description blade stamped WKC
Walden Knife Co. made in U.S.A.

Stockman - Walnut handles.

Codger and others can provide you a much better response than I can, but I believe the answer to your question is yes, although I can't tell you who would be making them. I received a knife yesterday that was advertised as "rare new old stock Schrade Walden". The tang was indeed stamped "Schrade Walden NY USA". But it was a very poor tang stamp, very shallow and almost looked double-stamped. Then when looking at the packaging, I saw "Used under license from Taylor Cutlery, LLC.". I contacted the seller, and he seemed very surprised to find this out. I checked his feedback and past items, and knives are not part of his normal inventory, so I'm guessing he didn't know any better. Anyway, he agreed to give me a refund upon return of the knife since it was not as it was described. That said, I'm debating keeping it as a lesson learned.

I usually ask if there is a pattern stamp on the back side of the tang. Usually, the pre 1973 Schrade Waldens had that stamp. Other than that Dave, your post looks correct.

Winchester, I believe the amber and wood ones your are referring to are the knives Bear made.

Thanks for the tip, will have to start asking that myself!

If the knives in question have one pin in the lower center of the handles it is a tell tale sign the knives were made by Bear as thawk mentioned. they first made the Walnut knives not long after Schrade closed the doors in 2004, the Amber bone knives came a little later on.

yeo Looked at the pic and it does have one center pin.

yep Looked at the oic and it has one center pin.

Are the walden knive made By Bear any food and do they have collector value? This is bear and sons Right/

They don't sell very well, and I have not seen them reviewed. They are probably a decent knife.

Bear and Sons is correct, collector value, yes, no, maybe. It was stated in the original SMKW flyer for the Walnut handled knives, that the wood was actually from the old Ellenville Schrade factory so you could call them somewhat collectable. the knives as they are made in the USA and not Chinese spin offs are collectable in there own way.
I see them more of a commemoration to the Walden/Schrade-Walden Co than anything else. just my 0.2 These could also be collectable as a Bear and Sons SFO.

What does the word 'Collectable' imply in the first place? My Dictionary states: an accumulated assortment of things of a particular type:hoard: stockpile:anthology:something capable of being collected:"Desirable":
We have one collector here in Australia who was shown on T.V. who collects bits of plastic, another other peoples fingernail and toenail cuttings ,and yet another different forms of barb wire so I guess one can collect anything even Taylor Schrade knives,USA Schrade Baer clones of another Company's knives i.e. genuine USA Schrade knives pre 2004. I believe there are enough of the real McCoys from 1904 to 2004 still available albeit at a price which steadily increases with the forces of supply and demand... so clones Commemorate nothing really except perhaps people's gullibility unless purchased as a User.
IMHO the words "desirable"& part of an Anthology with perhaps an increase in value as an Investment over time as others desire similar things of a particular authentic type and maker with a common traceable U.S. English,Irish, German not to forget Mexico ,history from 1904 to July 2004 is my best definition of a Schrade desirable collectable. This can encompass a user with a pedigree through to a Mint in Box Pristine example of the same knife.
The rest my friends I consider total crapp as a legitimate collector, and a pathetic attempt by some to make a quick buck by the short route and misrepresentation completing avoiding all the above reasons why I collect Schrades.
I am also now interested in Canal Street as a legitimate USA quality knife maker who create their own characteristic beautifully crafted knives without any attempt at misrepresentation and if you look at their creators and cutlers they, more than anyone in my opinion could lay claim to be the legitimate heirs to USA Schrade but they dont... not simply someone who had the "Wad" to buy the name and franchise to anyone and everyone willing to pay for it and clone the originals even if it means producing them en mass in another Country of Origin without apparent quality controls in place like the Original was famous for and built their considerable reputation on.
Why dont we all embrace Canal Street if we need to acknowledge an heir to the Schrade history which I dont think they want or we want on this 'Collectors' forum. What do I know I have never been to a knife show in my life or ever met another living knife collector except on the Net and I live one step north of the South Pole.I just happen to appreciate..nay..love the genuine Schrade Family of knives with their considerable history which is worth "collecting"/preserving for posterity.....

P.S. I figure if they execute an extradition order against me to make me face it in the U.S...I get to go to my first knife show!!

I know we don't see eye to eye on everything Larry, but I for one would contribute to a collection to send you to your first knife show!! Never been to a knife show:eek:! Never met another collector face to face:eek:!
I wouldn't wish that on anyone!! You certainly make up for it in enthusiasm.!

..thanks for your well wishes mate..when I sell a few of my beloved Schrades I intend to do just that and come over.I own lots of other knives like Puma White Hunters etc but it really is indefinable to me just why a Schrade is so bloody interesting.I used to collect traditional British folders from turn of previous century however have now sold most.
I'm a bit worried bout you Derringer packing yanks but!In Oz we have rifles and rarely see pistols or 6 guns. Hoo Roo

What he said. I'd try to get to that show for sure if it is in the states. I've never been to an exclusive knife show (gun shows usually end up boring me), and you guys are my knife collector buddies.

Of course I'd be wearin my "One Shot, One Kill" T-Shirt so Larry would recognize me. :D
