Codger, There's a whole long discussion on the general forum here about the Buck 110 and 112. There are statements concerning it being one of the most copied knives in the world. I just got to wondering which came first, the 110 or the LB7 and similar Schrade patterns.

Paul

According to a web article that I found: "In 1963, Al Buck designed the Model 110 Folding Hunter, and when it was brought to the market in 1964".

And, as we all know, the accepted Schrade production dates for the LB7 are 1979-2004.

That information suggests that Buck was first to market with the pattern.

Ted is correct. Buck was first with this style of lockback knife. 1977 is the first inkling of the LB7 production I can find, though it might have been under pre-production R&D in 1976 or before. Now, enter Puma, Colonial, Camillus and every other knife maker of this genre. In hand, the 110 and LB7 are quite different, though of the same pattern. Designing a folding knife pattern new to the arts so much that it is patentable is rare. Predecessors to the 110 can be found. Earlier knives with back locks can be found. If Al Buck had a problem with Schrade's LB7 design, would he have had Schrade continue to make knives for them?

Don't know how to do links........Hell I'm old!! and I haven't had this computer very long. It's in the General section under Blade discussions and it's entitled Buck 110 Folder and it's on page 2 of the index right now having been posted at about 11:00 AM today.

I found it. To post a thread link, go there, then move your cursor to the "Address" bar at the top of your screen. Right button click your mouse. The address bar will turn blue, and a menu box drops down. Pick "COPY". Then go to the thread you want to put the link in, hit reply, then right click again, pick "PASTE". Easy once you have done it.

Paul,
If you think that you're old now, wait 10 years !
Parts sure don't work as well as they did 50 years ago,but I'm glad to see the sun every morning.
As someone said "The older I get,the better I used to be !!":thumbdn:

Now,don't feel bad about not knowing how to post a link.Anybody who can install swimming pools after reading the instructions that typically come with them, has to be pretty darned smart !:D
Ron

They come with instructions? Dang, I guess I've been trashing those since 1975 or 76! :D

Okay, I did good with the link instructions up to "Pick Copy" then I came back to this thread and the only thing I see that says reply anywhere is the "Post Reply" or "Quick Reply" so the right click and "paste" didn't work there and the address bar up above now has the url for this tread and this reply and my copy link is in cyber space somewhere, I know not where.

Paul

PS I printed your instructions out and follwed more carefully than a receipe.

Easier way to add a link!!
1)Start your post here with a message about the link!
2)shrink your post to the bottom bar, and open a second browser to the URL (site) you want to transfer over. Go to the page in the site you want, then click on the URL up at the top, and when it "highlights", then click "CTRL" and "c" (hold CTRL while you click c). This will store a copy ready for use!
3)Bring up the post you started! See the little blue globe with the link in front of it in the top of this message? Next to the yellow box??
Click on it, and when it opens, click "CTRL" and "v" (hold control while you click v.) Then click O.K. or whatever positive word it asks for. It should dump the link into your post! Post it, and you're done!

Good job! Which way did you find easier??
