Hello to everyone in the forums!

Here is the first complete prototype of a folder design I have been working on for a few years. Took me a long time to have a working prototype because I needed to acquire the right machines for the job and also to learn and practice a lot in machining. It has been quite a journey and I learned a lot. I will be making some iterations in the design after the next two pieces that I am about to complete in the near future.

The specs are the following:

Acid stonewashed Elmax blade at 4.1mm thickness and 61-62 hrc with flat ground recurve/tanto style lines.

The whole handle is 6al-4v Titanium (4.4mm) contoured, bead blasted and stonewashed.

Pocket clip and backspacer are also grade 5 titanium that were blackened. All the screws are also made of titanium some of them bead blasted and some blackened.

Stainless steel ball bearing with hardened steel washers for the blade to ride on. The detent is ceramic and hidden. The stop pin is 5/32 inch diameter.

Lastly the lock side of the frame has been carbidized to last longer and to eliminate lock stick.

Here are some pics of the finished product. Let me know what you think and any input you might have to make it better.

Cool looking knife. Very nice design, especially the blade. My only comment based on the pics is to go with a smoother stone wash finish overall. For me it’s a bit too many grain lines even for an apocalyptic look. I’d also compare the action with a Shirogorov, if you can get your hands on one. It will give you a feel if you need to make any improvements to the ball bearing pivot system.

Thanks a lot, glad you like it! The stonewash came out a bit too much I agree, unfortunately I don't have a tumbler to get a more consistent finish therefore I have to manually shake it in a box with river stones and because of the manual movement it probably came out like this. I am planning to make a tumbler for that reason.
Regarding the action unfortunately I don't own a shirogorov or a folder of that caliber. Althought my action is smooth and in the next ones will be even better I am not sure it can be compared with one made with cnc machines but for that I am not sure since I haven't operated a high end folder before.
