In the mornings, when I am at home, I go out and put some calf feed in a couple bowls by my patio and have coffee with my friends. The are getting more used to me and I can walk to within about 6 feet of some of them. Been a long snowy winter here and one old gray doe is looking pretty thin and I found one fawn dead when I came home this time. I wonder how soon they will bring their fawns around in the spring.

Nope, these are whitetail, Muleys have about a 1/4 longer ears and are grayer. I guess the mule deer have really done bad this winter. The Elk have done well though and they are tasty.

Please don't take this the wrong way Jim, but I would like to eat your little friends there...

Come on over this fall. There are lots more and the bucks come around to visit the girls here. We will have backstraps for breakfast. Every morning! Right now they are little on the poor side.

Man, there you go again Jim. Rub it in man, rub it in! I'm just likely to show up on your doorstep one of these years!

Venison grilled properly is just great.....However, the only I have had was harvested by friends....and Yes I know what a starved to death deer looks like. Still, seeing pictures like you posted makes it hard not to have a soft heart for Bambi and family.
Thanks for sharing!

Now that's what I call dinner service... walks right up to the table.

Can't help but imagine one of them on a spit.

Thanks for the pic.

My brother and I have joked about setting the feed bowls under the huge old swing set I have rigged with a chain fall and doing a spoof of one of those TV hunts and in the end show that my "blind" was actually my bedroom and I am wearing camo pajamas.
