This is the first frame handle, as well as my first coffin handle bowie. I build this based on the cowboy action bowie design. The blade was forged from 1084. It is 8" long and 1/4" thick at the ricasso, with a 800 grit hand finish. I heat treated it to a RC 58. The handle has a black paper micarta frame with file worked 410 stainless liners. I finish off the handle with cocobola scales, line cut stainless spacer, and stainless pins. The sheath is 8-9 oz drum dyed leather, that was hand tooled and sewn. The overall lenght call in at 12-1/2".

Comments good or bad are welcomed.

James, you've outdone yourself on this one! Very nicely designed and finished! Congratulations for this beauty!!!

Wow! That is just an exceptional Bowie.I like the file work on the back of the handle and the guard and spacers really set it off.

Thank you Gentlemen! It was a fun knife to build for sure. Well any time I get to do new construction it put the fun in to it.

Mike, your coffin handle knives were definitely an influence, you do some awesome work.

Really elegant package James. I'd personally like to see more distal taper on it, but I know that's easier said than done. Great first coffin effort!

VERY NICE James!!!

Great overall lines, and it looks clean as a whistle too! :)

One tiny bit of advice (that I got from Paul Long!) just to think about...is to skive the front edges of the chevron down really thin. Personally, I like the way it blends the chevron and the body of the sheath, but I'm sure some folks might prefer it have a bit of a stepped look.

That's just meant as something to consider James, I don't mean it as criticism! This is an awesome package. :)

I like that a lot. Great flow to it and have to echo Nicks comment, super clean finish.
Cheers Keith
