Coffin handle Bowie. The blade, guard, and ferrule are 1084. The pins and inlaid escutcheon are nickel silver. The handle is natural giraffe bone. Blade length is approximately 7 1/2", and the overall length is approximately 12 3/4".

I know that there's mixed emotions about giraffe bone amongst collectors, and to be perfectly honest I don't particularly care much for most of the various dyed / multi-colored stuff out there. However, I have a new found respect for giraffe bone. This stuff was tough as nails when I was working it. Also, as far as the rep of being "poor man's" stag, the couple of pieces I have hand picked in the past were as expensive as stag, and in some cases more expensive than stag.

Beautiful knife Terry - love the slick blade profile - very elegant. And the handle looks great! Giraffe bone can be a source of controversy for sure - all I'll say is that not every piece of giraffe bone looks great, but then again, not every piece of stag does either. The piece you've selected for your knife looks terrific to me. Oh yeah - the escutcheon is a nice touch.

Terry, that bowie is even nicer than you described to me on the phone. Wish it were heading to Belleville! :)

I love this blade profile... nice and pointy! Everything works great on this knife, I sure wish she was mine. (or if heading to Belleville, I'd threaten to post all those compromising polaroids and get her for a song!)

Beautiful work Terry... keep 'em coming!

That is one classy looking bowie. When I first saw the photo of this knife I thought the handle was ivory. That is easily the nicest giraffe bone handle that I have seen.

Thanks guys.

The natural bone is pretty neat stuff. I sort of like it because since it is natural, it looks natural. With the dyed stuff, it can sort of look like you're trying to make it appear to be something it's not. Does that make sense?

I'm not knocking the folks that use the dyed stuff. I have used some of it and still have one piece left. I paid for it so I'll eventually use it on something.

When you are close to the knife, it is apparent that it's not ivory -- at least to all you guys, since you know what ivory really looks like. But it still looks pretty nice in its own right.

Crap, I'm rambling here. Too much coffee today I guess. :D

There's a whole lot of departures from your familiar style, Terry. All are good. :D I especially like the fluted guard and ferrule. Ohhhhh yeahhhhh!

great looking knife Terry. Not coming my way either unfortunately. I like giraffe bone and certainly the treatment and the mix with the right knife is so important. Various animal bone look very nice with knives including Italian Cow, Elk, Buffalo etc. This knife is outstanding.
