This is a cool knife that I enjoy a lot. JW Randall, ABS Mastersmith, is well respected by his peers and does exceptional work. He is also a very solid from the collector/customer standpoint. Ron Newton introduced me to JW (and also to this knife) at the Arkansas Knifemakers Association show in Little Rock a couple of years ago.

That is exquisite!! Congrats!:thumbup::thumbup:Thank you for sharing that beauty with us. :D

WOW...would that happen to be the knife you mentioned where the ivory shrunk and caused the abalone to bulge?

Beautiful knife and it sure looks good now.

buddy...you got dimensions and materials on that one...looks great.....i love the inlay in the handle.....ryan

I've always loved J.W.'s work, but have never been able to afford any of his knives.

This is yet another gorgeous knife from him. :)

I know... me neither. :o
The reality is there are way more great custom knife opportunities out there than dollars in my pockets.

ryan - I'll get the details together and post them here but the handle scales are elephant ivory and the escutcheons are black lip mother of pearl.

Buddy, it looks like it is not a very big knife, so I like it even more!
See you at Eric's........

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

David - Well... it's substantial with an OAL of 9", blade of 4" and weight of 5.2 oz. A small one of these (about half size) would be really cool though! I might run that concept by J.W. just for fun.

Yes, I'll definitely see you at BLADE David. I'm thrilled to be working with Eric and Point 7 this year and I understand we'll see you early Thursday in relation to a book project?

Glad everybody enjoyed seeing this one. What good would the knives we collect be if we couldn't share them somehow?

I always have a hard time getting excited about autos because they are illegal to own in Canada, but this sure is one heck of a fantatic knife.

I'm pleased to see this one again. You really nailed the lighting on this, and it is appealingly clear.

Nice. See you as well in Atlanta.

Coop

I've always held a fascination for autos. JW nails one here.

Never had in dealings with JW, but have talked to him on quite a few occasions at shows. Seems to be a man of high principles, so not surprised he was eager to fix your knife.

He does amazing things with damascus as demonstrated below. Buddy hope you don't mind my adding a photo to your thread?

Not at all, Kevin. Thanks for contributing because, hey... it's all about the knife! :D

Coop - Thanks for your comment about the photo (and for your help over the years!). Yes, I look forward to seeing you in Atlanta. My plan is to break away at some point and bring you and Susan ice cold sodas! Nothing soothes the harried, hot and tired knife show photographer's mind and body better than something cold on the throat.
