I recently saw a Bark River rogue bowie with a red coffin handle-Fixed blade on the internet. It's a very good looking and large knife. I'm considering looking for one of these. Anyone have one with some experiences? Any other fixed blades with the coffin handles?

I have a Rogue.

I really like this knife. The balance is simply wonderful, and the convex ground blade is frighteningly sharp. It doesn't get much use though. I don't find the guardless, smooth coffin handle all that secure; a terrifying thing in a knife this large and sharp. I utilize it occassionally in the kitchen for things like pineapples and such and it works quite well.

That's it. It's great looking. What is the gold part on the hilt? Is that brass?

That gold part that you speak of is a decorative brass band. My Rogue is from the first production run, with a hidden tang. Current Rogues are full tang and lack the brass band.

Hi glocktenman -

Here is a picture of the Gambler's Bowie that I had Stomper from JK Handmade Knives make for me, complete with Coffin handle -

This guy is a nice, big chopper for sure!

Hi Folks,

Speaking of Gambler Bowies.
A Sfreddo I picked up right here on the Exchange.

I love coffin-handle bowies; they're classy. Don't have one myself, though.

Those customs are sweet. The Sfreddo has a very good looking coffin handle. Good looking lines. Did the sheaths come with those? The buckeye burl almost looks like marble. Very nice!

I was reading an interview with Mel Pardue from Knife Art and here is one of the interesting Q&A:
What has been your most popular model?
“The boot knife style, dagger edge with a coffin handle. I practically lived off of the coffin handle folder for the first ten years of my career.”

Any Mel Pardue coffins out there to see?
