Question, anybody have one of these ? And feed back on them or know where can find one state side ?

Or maybe a similar knife ? Excluding Opinel, and not a fan the fat rounded handles, but do like the simple carbon country knives of Europe

Coincidentally I've been trying to find one of those this week but haven't been able to secure one.

I fond one place that sells them but they don't have any in stock. I'll PM you the name of the place.

I really like the looks of it!

hey Jack - if you have another source, would you mind also sharing it with me?

thanks!

Man, that was my one card. If they're out, I don't know where to try next. Maybe they will restock?

There are some French regional knives like this. But I don't know how to define them and the rules restrict to give links on the online stores. I'll send you a personal message tomorow. Hope it helps.

I don't have one but I think the Le Montpellier and Le Capucin are neat patterns with an interesting history.

MC Cognet also makes the Douk-Douk knives and I do have a small and large version with a sheepfoot blade (far right in the first photo). The model is called "stylet" if I recall correctly.

Have Douk-Douk and love it great pocket knife and my preferred on weekends for more abusive and around the house task, since cheap and durable. And really retro cool

MAM. Portuguese rather than French, but they have a number of wood friction folders in a variety of handle shapes, some flat-sided. I have a round handled Douro coming , but some members here have posted pics of flat-sided models. Plain friction folders seem to sell for a little less than Opinel, liner locks slightly more. I can't comment on quality, since I have yet to handle one.

Update: The Douro came today. It does in fact have flat sides. Otherwise, the handle very much resembles the Opinel No.8 in profile, as does the blade. Other notable differences are a very simple liner lock and an inox blade rather than carbon. It does fit the description of "lnexpensive country knife", even simpler if you get it without the liner lock.
