www.knifekits.com has all sorts of parts for knives, duh... Specifically they have coil springs which SOG and Benchmade use. Would it be a good idea to upgrade the stock spring, and if so which of knife kit's 10 coil springs would fit without modification?

I assume you are talking about an auto knife? I would imagine you can buy a replacement that might have more force and swing the blade harder. But each knife is going to have its own size spring. That's why they sell 10 different sizes because it is going to vary by model.

You would have to take the spring out of the knife in question and measure it. That's the only way to know unless someone might happen to know the size in a particular knife.

Definitely need more info than a couple manufacturers.

Most "full size" autos seem to use the 0.5 inch.

If you look about the web, you can usually find a site that states the proper size spring.

I haven't gotten much improvement in opening speed by replacing springs except on the Gerber 06 (that knife has design issues that inhibit speed).

I tend to replace springs with OEM or OEM equivalent unless there is a problem. Most springs used for a specific purpose for a reason.

With a more forceful spring there might be more wear and tear.
