Searching the net, I found some cool looking coin sized multi-tools, including some made by Eloi Pernet. Anyone have one of these little wonders or know more about them?

Here are a couple images that I pulled from the net (i.e. from auctions that I lost! :( ):

From what I've gathered thus far, coin size multi-tools have been around at least since the early 60's--possibly the 50's or earlier. I'm still looking to find more information on when Eloi Pernet started making multi-tools out of old French coins. The history (link below) says "In 1925, Eloi won the 'Meilleur Ouvrier de France' (best Craftsman of France) award for a multi blade knife." Did he make other multi blade knives or does the quote refer to these coin size multi-tools?

Here's a link to the product page on the Eloi Pernet website:

...and here are some more photos of coin size knives and multi-tools from completed auctions:

I forgot to write this one down. Can someone help with the identification? I think it was Robeson ShurEdge.

I have one of the Eloi silver coins with blade, file, and scissors.

Note that this is more along the lines of a "gentleman's folder" than a multi-tool in construction; you would not really want to do anything heavy with it. It's a nice little novelty. A French friend told me that he thought the blade was 440C, but I have no info on that.

The scissors spring tends to jam when closing the scissors.

I have the impression that these are kinda pricey.
