My EDc mini cqc7 needs the pivot screw adjusted every month or so. I was thinking, it would be nice if that slotted pivot screw could be adjusted with a coin. Does anyone sell such pivot screws?

I dont know where to find one to buy but you could easily make the pivot slot on the original one larger if you wanted.

You might be better off using something on your keys or one of those mico-tool things.

Not confident enough in my metal working skills to attempt modifying the original. Maybe I'll see if I can purchase a few spares from EKI and experiment with those.

P---STR made one end of one of his prySTR's to fit the Emerson screw. Just an idea.

TJT---Go to STR's Backyard Knife Works, under, Makers. Steve will set you up.

Got a reply from EKI. Pivot screws are available for purchase. Also, they are interchangeable with the other Emerson knives. Think I'll order some screws and see what a dremmel can do. If I like the result, I may put the modified screws on all my Emersons. I just hope my padded vice can keep the screws from flying across the room when I take the dremmel to them.

Couldn't wait. Once I found out I can get replacement screws, I had to give the modification a try. Only takes about 5 minutes with a dremmel and the screw clamped into a pair of vice grips. Now I can adjust my pivot with pocket change or even the edge of some keys..

Will be awhile before I can get to a camera. Basically, I just widened the existing slot a bit. Also, by using a round dremmel bit, the slot is rounded to better fit the contour of a coin. Very similar to the coin slot on the battery compartments of some electronic goods. Easy to do and a standard screw driver can still be used.
