Where to begin......

For a while now I've been wanting to try out one of the Cold Steel mega folders. I had come down to the Rajah II and the 6" Ti-Lite to choose from, and as the title says, 6" Ti-Lite. Somewhere in the Mall Ninja part of my mind I thought the Ti-Lite would be easier to carry than the Rajah II:o:D Then it dawned on me, WHY, why would I carry such a knife. Of course with it being new I will include it as a come along knife in order to show it to several friends of mine.

My very first impression upon taking the knife out of the box and bubble wrap pouch was to smile, then open it and smile even more. It does make quite a first impression!

A few other first impressions; It is heavy, and at 9 ounces, it should be. The blade is centered in the handle when closed, there are bronze washers in the pivot, lockup is very solid, and no blade play at all. The blade grinds are nice and even and symmetrical, with a nice sharp edge that slices newsprint without problem.

Now, a couple of things that could be improved in my eye's; an aluminum back spacer would be nice, along with thicker liners ( with the L shaped lock though there is more locking area on the blade tang being used, making for solid lockup) as they would be more appropriate for a knife this size. The lock on this one goes over farther to the right than I usually like for them too, but I will disassemble it and do some internal polishing, then it may go back together with a more "proper":) lockup. It would have been nice if the pocket clip had been mounted all the way up on the butt end, but as is, only about 1/2" looks like it will stick out of the pocket.....not that really matters much.

All in all, not a bad piece of knife on first inspection, and for a sub $100 knife I can live with the fact I purchased it. I know, from a search on the forums, that these knives have been talked about a lot, but if anyone has anything to add, please do.:)

I have the Zytel version and like it quite a bit. I suspect that just producing it would have a palpable effect on both the righteous and wicked alike. It's quite a blade, and it's a formidable weapon even when it's closed.

A knife weighing in a 9oz should not hate the word "Lite" in the its name.
But does looks like a sweet blade. Glad you like it. What do the plastic
ones weigh?

A knife made of aluminum should also not have "Ti" in the name

I really like the look of the ti lite

I did disassemble the knife and polish the pivot area along with applying some miltec 1. It did smooth the opening up. The lockup also changed as I rotated the stop pin and now it locks up at a little under 50%. I went down to my cousins house a while ago and decided to leave my normal edc, a Black G10 Tyrade, at home and slide this one in my right front pocket. It fit surprisingly well and caused no problem when sitting. Btw, the zytel 6" weighs about 6.5 ounces.

Man i handled the zytel version and was astonished. cold steel makes a good product and i dont care what people on here say.

Sorry to hijack the topic but, is the 4" zytel ti lite any good as an inexpensive tactical folder? Just wondering since I was thinking of getting one...

I picked up a 4" blade Ti Lite last year, that had been coverted to full auto,( one of only 12 ). I EDC it, and it's holding up well, as I use and abuse it on a daily bases. It still locks up tight, and the 4" blade works great for my uses. I've had no problems with it's closed length, nor it's light weight, when rideing in my pocket. Not sure how the extra 2 inches for the longer Ti Lite, would carry on a daily bases in one's pocket, nor if the extra 2" of blade, are really needed.
