I dont hear too much talk on this, is it a good edc/ in case of emergency self defense blade?

Im looking for something i never bought before to try to bring back the awesomeness of the hobby, i have bought and sold a plenty of EDC knives but never had anything more tactical (also edcable)

Since im moving to jersey, in the camden county area for my wifes new job (im getting transferred too) and i know you cant carry a gun in jersey so knife is next best thing. (dont want to use it dont intend to use it but i will if my life is in danger, iv trained in hapkido for years and have a enough to get by knowledge of how to defend yourself with a knife, the best rule iv learned for self defense is if the person just wants your wallet let them take it and avoid conflict)

I still got my around 100ish budget (i know ill get alot of ZT recommendations but i dont want to go much over and there is a 0350 for sale for 115 but its assisted and im not really too keen on assisted knives)

SO i want a tactical use and a EDC i guess work knife? on my own time when i go out i carry a slip joint but at work or yard work or house ill carry it.

This will be my last thread asking for suggestions, sorry for making so many.

Also i like to be able to sharpen my knives my self (not the worlds best sharpening systems i got a lansky crock stick and a medium grit diamond stone, so idk what steel would be good in terms of retention and sharpening, i need that like middle ground, not dull super easy and sharpen super easy but not stays sharp forever and takes 3 hours to sharpen)

Also i tried watching some yt vids but people seem to give a very biased opinion on CS knives its either garbage or the best most tactical monster knife ever.

Im open to other suggestions too :)

Thanks alot for the help, and thanks for the patience with me.

BTW this is my bday gift to myself lol, my bday is next sunday, hopeing to give myself a early gift

EDIT : just stumbled apon the cold steel rajah 3 witch looks decent too (the knife doesnt have to be a cold steel this is just where im at in my search right now)

SD yes, if you train with it. The pommel makes a good skull cracker
EDC way over priced. Their are quite a few Spydercos that cost less or same but have better steels (eg Endura, delica, native) for example

so what about something that is a good SD and can be edc, keep in mind i only use my knife a few times a day for some medium to light work of cutting straps (plastic and nylon) and plastic ties.

Price range? There are plenty.

If you gonna use it for both you need one with a decent steel. The last thing you want it to open your knife for sd and find it's gone blunt from edc
Also rec you get one with a trainer version if possible.

I'm not sure what your question is.

I think you are asking if the CS AK-47 makes an effective SD tool.

It's as effective as any other folder (or grocery store steak knife), if you haven't trained in using it specifically.

And I'm holding you to that "This will be my last thread asking for suggestions" promise.

my price range is the 100ish range, prefer less but we'll see it depends on if the knife is a good value, im looking for something not so much to collect but to use, and use it well. Probablly take it with me camping (not hacking at stuff but just incase i need it for various things, i got a Bowie that i camp with)

Also idk if this will make a difference but i have a bad tendency to break tips on my knives whent hey have thinner tips (get the ties the wrong way and slip and ping there goes the tip)

then the Spyderco Endura with trainer version. Very Very nb what Marcinek said ^^^. Train

This is the wave trainer version

Alright thats fine, and i know any knife can be used for SD but im looking for something that is idk whats the word, has got the grip for it i guess? I could use my buck 110 for SD except the handles are very smooth.

And dont worry, once i make this purchase i got other obligations to take care of so knives wont be in the budget again till probablly xmas time.
i will make a threaddd with pics a first impression and later on a review of whatever i decide to get though.

I dont need to buy a trainer i can take training lessons anytime i want my dad is the 1 who teaches the class and has all kinds of training equipment. Its on my to-do list, just been busy with work and family, alot of birth days and activities this time of year, im going to be attending the classes and such soon though. I signed up and am supposed to start july 20th (and yea ik if he teaches why do i sign up? i signed up to help support the class since the attendance is down and there talking about doing away with it and i dont wanna see that happen so ill pitch in my pennies to it instead of mooching for free)

The reason for a trainer is to practice drawing while you getting hit/ attacked. that's when you gonna need it. (Assuming you intend for it to be your main sd weapon)
Rubber knives and such are good to practice your techniques, but if the knife does get opened in your hand, the techniques you learn aren't gonna mean squat.
Remember under stress of an attack you motor skills are quite erratic amongst other symptoms.

ik but my dad has them in a cabinet along with nun-chucks and a few bo staffs, He has a red delica 1 2 red endura 1s a red benchmade griptilian, a karambit and 2 balisongs and a spyderco pkal. Ill borrow his i dont see a reason to buy 1 when there is enough to go around.

well if he has them then cool. But are they trainers or at least blunt?
You don't want to injure your sparing partner accidentally

Ps off topic: but what style does he train? It looks like kobujutso or kobudo. (i also use to train that):)

Never saw that one

How about xperiaarc's "medium sized medium use folder" thread?

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/969263-medium-sized-medium-use-folder

or his "1 edc for the rest of your life" thread?

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/970360-Only-1-EDC-for-the-rest-of-your-life

If one picks the sub-$100 replies in that thread, its the same as the "medium folder" thread, and the "nice new knife" thread.

Seriously, xperiaarcs, you have been given dozens of suggestions by nice, well-meaning, knowledgeable knife fans.

For Scagels sake....just buy something already. Get a Delica or a Grip. Or a any Cold Steel. Whatever! This is agonizing.

Get the AK. It's fine. It will cut things and you can poke bad guys with it while they are shooting you.

ok cool didn't know any of this. Then I'd get a real knife as close to any of the trainers as possible

I hear you. Hope this isn't gonna be another CF, I was just trying to help.
Well, I've given all the advise I can, so now it's it his court.

What does that even mean?!?! More people have been poked with Buck 110s and Shrade Sharpfingers (don't ask what it is...look it up) than any other knives, except maybe grocery store steak knives.

Smooth handles. All of them.
