I was hoping to get your opinion about something.
I am a huge fan of the arc angel by cold steel and have been wanting to get my hands on one for a while. I haven’t seen any come up recently so I figured I would instead try to find an example of its inspiration, the Darrel Ralph Gemini. These are more expensive unfortunately, but for the moment have been easier to find.
Also unfortunately, I have been coming across a bunch of allegations that Darrel Ralph is ordering titanium handles and blade blanks from China, grinding them, and then selling them for a premium as USA-made and custom, even though such an allegation would imply that not even half of the work was his own much less “custom”, and that it certainly doesn’t deserve the title “made in USA”. I have even found an Instagram account that is dedicated to informing people that darrel Ralph is a liar and cheat.
I am confident in my ability to spot a fake copy of Darrel’s knives, fakes of which I am sure there are many. To that end I am also skeptical that Ralph is a cheat. But alas, I am not sure. I put this here because I assumed arc angel fans would know something about it. I also was a little hesitant to put it in the Darrel Ralph section of this forum, since he himself is one of the moderators. Basically, I was worried that even though it is not my intent to offend anyone, that this post would be misconstrued as such and get me kicked off the forum or something like that.
What do you guys think of the allegations against Mr. Ralph? Founded? Unfounded? Any evidence or stories of your own?
