Looks like the Barong Machetes are now gone from the Special Projects site. I didn't know much about them prior to a few months ago but I was putting an order in at the Special Projects site and saw them on closeout for only $7.99 and went for it. Didn't expect much to be honest. When I got it I was actually a bit shocked, and even my girlfriend who's not a knife person remarked how nice it was for such a ridiculous price. I ended up buying a couple more to keep in the vehicles since we spend so much time bushwacking here in the Rockies.

So I went back a couple of days ago hoping to grab a couple of more for gifts and noticed they were gone:(

Too bad, as it's such a great bush tool.

They seem to have dropped a lot of their line this year. I found their hawks and machete's were always a good buy for what you got.

Yeah, these were incredible deals for the money, no doubt. Funny thing is I stopped carrying my Cold Steel Bushman after getting this one. Same blade thickness but at 12" it will chop really well. Also has a great rubber handle. The blade slightly resembles the Bushman, so it's like a Bushman on steroids lol. Strange thing about these is that they have the Cold Steel logo and the "China" stamped on the blade whereas my CS Kuhkri Machete has nothing stamped on it. As a matter of fact, the Kuhkri Machete is almost junk compared to Barong (the sheath on the Kuhkri is total junk).

Bummer... I was planning on getting one but everytime I put in an order the place I was buying from was sold out. I suppose this is why... Dang.

Shame. All of Cold Steel's machetes are too thick, but the barong design really works well for me. There are other companies offering similar machetes, btw.
