i was thinking about buying one of these knives, i did a search and found pretty much alot of praise (only 3 posts though). i figured that i would specifically ask the question here to try and get a definitive answer. from what i gather they come in carbon V and aus-6 but the carbon V is rare. of the people that have them what are your impressions. it will be used strictly in an outdoor setting, cutting bait, cleaning fish etc.. thanks for your answers they are always great info on the quality of a knife. oh one other thing, how do you feel about cold steels seconds. i was going ot get this blade from wholesalehunter.com, and the price makes me think second even though it does not say it. thanks again

Just bought a CS bird & trout knife two weeks ago. After only one day of light fishing duties, I can highly recommend it as a cheap, lightweight (1oz) very practical little cutter. The skeletonized handle is much more comfortable than it looks. The ring makes it easy to pull from the concealex neck sheath. The 21/4" blade is far too small for heavy fishing duties but perfect for bait preparation, cutting line and cleaning the tiddlers. How the blade holds up under repeated use remains to be seen. Mine is a Carbon V steel with a black epoxy powder coating. The Carbon V model seems to be the only model available in this part of the world.
