Cold Steel Black Coating Removal?

I just received my CS American Lawman and would like to remove the black teflon(?) coating on the blade and lock bar. I saw a thread related to this quite a while ago but can't find it now.

Has anyone found a quick and painless way to remove this stuff without resorting to sanding and polishing?

Any advice welcomed.

Cheers,

Jim

Kleen strip stripper, or just a paint scrapper. Teflon is pretty easy to get off.

Thanks!

I thought the coating would be quite tough, being on a knife blade and all. I just cut some cardboard to see how she cuts and the coating came away quite cleanly at the edge.

Try Acetone before paint stripper. Paint stripper is pretty harsh stuff, and could damage the handles.

I will defiantly give that a go on the blade as its got nooks and crannies, though on the relatively straight forward lock bar, 10 minutes of scrapping with a metal rule and she is as clean as a whistle!

BTW I have the whole knife in pieces so no fear of wrecking the handles.

Thanks.
