Got a nice discontinued Cold Steel some time ago, the conclusion of the review:

Overall Score: 8.14

A good score that's mostly pulled down by the materials used. Looking for a cool knife with a funky locking system for not too much money? This might be it for you. The looks are right, the built quality is very goo, the price is very decent, it's comfortable and it's got a very refreshing locking system.

Looking for a quickdraw knife with the latest and greatest in materials? (supersteels etc) This is probably not your type of knife. You'd be better off saving some pennies.

Looking at it simply for what it is means that it's a good knife. It could be an excellent hunting companion that doesn't threaten people because it takes half a year to open and the shape is that of something with a purpose other than stabbing the life out of other people.

Me? I like it and will keep at least 1 of the ones I bought.

Great review. I thought about getting one and gutting the handles. Turn it into a butterfly knife. I'd probably have to weight the ends of the handles though.

I think the Black Rock Hunter is a decent design for the "open little, use a lot" category.

It is one of Demko's designs, isn't it?

I'm actually not sure who the designer is. Really like the design though. I'm thinking about seeing if I can rescales one or two of them.

Love that BRH. Very solid when opened, non-threatening, hard working. No bells and whistles for fools to get distracted by, this knife is a tool and a great one at that.:thumbup:

I would never attempt to modify this into a butterfly type.

years back a similar model in red handles was brought out by hackman of sweden or finland. not quick but heck for strength & utility.
