I found this Cold Steel knife on a day hike. Does anyone know what model it is? It looks like whoever owned it before tried to re-grind the edge or sharpen it with a grinder or something - it was not me. Thanks.

Well you just found yourself a regrind project! Great find! (and if you don't want it, I'm sure there are plenty of people here that will take it off your hands!)

Looks like some one had a seizure near the grinder!

Pretty cool find though, clean it up. You could fix that grind in a jiffy on a belt grinder (take it easy, keep it cool in a dunk bucket).

My concern is that any one who would do that to a knife, probably has no idea that the heat treat could be ruined by getting the blade hot!

Yep, that is a heavily abused SRK. It's probably happy you found it - the former owner clearly didn't love it :(

That statement was a coffee spitter!! Good 'un Big.:D It sure looks like it had a runin with someone having a problem.

The original owner probably didn't lose it, he probably chucked it as far as he could. Measuring my SRK and estimating where the edge bevel is on that one, I'd say the edge would be 0.095" thick at the back of the bevel. I have roofing hammers that are ground thinner. Good luck making that tent peg into a knife.

Send pictures of it to CS who knows maybe they might do something about it. And if all else fails, you have a thrower.

Their warranty only lasts a yr. Not worth it I think. Get someone to do a full convex grind on and turn it into a proper knife
