Cold Steel broken tips

Never had it happen, but they are pretty good when it comes to warranty. How did they break?

My SRK chipped stupid easy. I sent it in to get the chip fixxed, and they sent it back with a bad edge and some scallops in the edge (I have sharpened the edge, but haven't been able to fully re-profile and take care of the scallops). I haven't used it for much since then, I'm hoping to re-profile and test it when it warms up.

I havent actually owned one I just wanted to buy a Recon 1 tanto point I just heard that they break easily.

You can snap the tip off of any knife if you are careless/abusive enough with it. It goes without saying. Also, consider the source, you say you've "heard". From where did this informaiton permeate. Is it a reliable source of information. Or is it just some guy stabbing randomly into anything available out of sheer boredom?

There is another angle, on some of the older Cold Steel boxes, they warranty claim is that they provide 1 year of limited lifetime warranty, provided you have the original receipt. This may have changed in the last 3 years or so, I cannot say one way or another.
