I finished the Cold Steel Bushman spear test.

I can't throw a spear so I shoot it out of an 11 foot air cannon.

I start with soft targets and work my way up
Watermelon.
plywood.
Brick
And a fun finalie

The cold Steel Bushman once again proves it is tough and a great spear.

Videos are posted on www.knifetests.com

Enjoy the videos. They were made for you.

Great job, noss! You cranked up the fun to a whole new level, and at the same time the cannon provided reproducibility of the results, so the scientific method boys will have a little less to complain about.
I am sad to say however, I am not looking foreward to the inevitable comments wishing you had been harmed during the video, hopefully my post will deter them in some way from stooping that low.
Again, great job and keep it up.

Great test !!

Did you by chance do any slashing tests with it mounted on the shaft?

No, I didn't get a chance for that.. I'm sure it would perform well at this since
the blade has plenty of belly and cuts very well.

What's you opinion about the socket would it hold up to the lateral stresses of slashing?

Freaking awsome, man. As always.
Now I know why this spear test took you so long. Air canon, television, laptop... You're building a laboratory.

The 5 second firing delay seems a little dangerous to me though.

"Oh wait I forgot something..WHOOOMMPH!"

I would have liked to see some metal targets too.

Bors I think the socket would hold up well to slashing on a staff. It seems
very strong.

David H: I would like to have done some metal targets myself.

I'll get a few more bushman's and perform the above tests. I"ll keep you posted when I do this.

Judging by the prying done to remove the spear from its "victims," it would probably hold up OK for slashes.

I like the whole air gun thing.

What if you made a chopping machine, which could possibly be adapted for both a spear like this or regular knives?

Nice bonus with the TV set. :)
