I want to purchase 4 carbon v trailmaster bowies. Has anyone heard if Camillus will supply CS with any more blades? Will someone else supply it? I am getting worried I am going to have to purchase them in San Mai. Please let me know if The carbon version will be available again. Thanks.

if you do end up buying the san mai blade let me know how it is. i am thinking of buying the hatamoto.

Cold Steel obtained its Carbon V from Camillus. That arrangement is said to be at an end. (Camillus has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and its work-force has been on strike, only recently ended, for months.) So unless you can find some Carbon V blades already in the retail supply chain, I fear you're SOL.

Not only does Camillus supplies the Carbon V; but isn't it so that they manufacture the entire knife as well? Also, if you're lazy about aftercare go for the black coated ones, rather than the earlier satin finished blades. The Trailmaster is something one ought to have if you're into Cold Steel products. Heck, it's just about the baddest CS "campknife" there is.

If you find someone who has a couple, let me know. I'll buy another if I can, love mine.

Now I'm curious. Don't they still make the old carbon folder like I had and gave to a grandson? The blade was sorta teardrop shape like a Lum and it had an eye shaped opening hole.

Am I gonna hafta sneak inta the kid's room an steal it back?

It was a really COMFY handled knife.

You are talking about the Trailguide, leaf shaped blade, comfy handle, full flat grind of Carbon V. One of my favorite folders by far, only the Spyder Calypso 3 comes close, IMO.

You'll have to sneak back in, they were discontinued a while ago. Sorry.

Thats to bad I love my carbon 5 pro throw it has taken dozens of point first
slams into the cement floor and thosands of throws into a wood door and other than wearing off some of the powdercoat is still perfect. I even put a bit more of an edge and once I make a decent kydex sheath intend to use it as a tactical knife.

yeah it looks like I am going to have to buy old stock and I am looking for the black coated blades. Looks like ebay for me I just wished I had bought them last year when I first discovered them them.

hooah I just aquired a nib black carbon v trail master. I thing $125 was a little to much but o well now only got to get 3 more.

You might also consider the Recon Scout.

In almost every respect, the Recon Scout is simply a 7-1/2" Trail Master Bowie . It offers the same steel, heat treatment, blade thickness, and blade shape. Only the satin polish has been changed, in favor of a rich, baked-on black epoxy finish.

I've had two of the Recon Scout Seconds from Cold Steel. My son took one to Iraq with him for 14 months. These are nice knives. For the money they seem to do fine. I've seen one report of one breaking. One of perhaps countless isn't too bad. Overall performance of their knives is quite good really. The handles don't seem to hold up as well to long term hard use as I'd have thought compared to a Swamp Rat Camp Tramp, if you can even find one at a decent price.
