Ladies and gentlemen, steel snobs, and fit and finish perfectionists alike, I have a very important question to ask you all. Why in the world haven’t we talked about how cool the CS Charm is? It seems that this is Lynn’s little secret treasure, a slipjoint keychain knife in s35vn under 100$? Somebody pinch me because it sounds to me like something that everyone would rave over. If any of you have used, abused, or refused this secret gem, let me know, because this is probably the only place on the web that will talk about it haha

My Charm wasn't the sharpest out of the box (neither was my Lucky One till I had it reground), the blade's mirror finish is a fingerprint magnet and the handles can be a bit slick. The action is tight, the handle slabs are seamless and I've only carried it maybe once with my Broken Skull.

I agree! When I first saw it advertised, I thought for sure it would be a winner. But its retro styling hasn't seem to catch on. Maybe the high-end materials put too high a price tag on a limited-use knife.

Sorry to hear that about the sharpness and the fingerprints, but it is good to hear that the F&F is as good as on any of their other offerings!

I would like to disagree with that, considering that their lucky one has done pretty well. And a price range of 50$ through dealers or $80 MSRP, I would assume that this would appeal to the same crowd that likes their lady/manbugs in ZDP-189. I do agree that it is a little weird having high end materials on a keychain knife though, but it is a nice thing to have from my experience with the CS Micro Recon 1

Watch the video on GPKnives of the Charm. Fit and finish looks poor.
I have the Lucky One and it's very well done. Maybe it's made in a different factory.

I don’t really know what to look for in this video F&F-wise, but I do enjoy my half stop on my traditionals very much. Just make sure that the charm is passed to the guy/gal who checks the quality of the Lucky ones in the same OEM, or even better, give me a micro recon 1 in s35vn lol jk

Mr.SATism, funny enough, the Charm was meant to replace the Micro Recon I lost and I would've loved it in an !@#$% exotic steel. I found that knives the size of the Micro Recon or similar are about the smallest I can use practically (only with a lanyard attached to it) so I often debate about keeping the Charm as a closet queen or selling it.

I also forgot, I have a first run Lucky not the Lucky one, which I would have bought instead as I don't use the serrated blade (great on rope but not much else). The blades do slightly rub on opening and the pocket clip is again, a mirror like fingerprint magnet.

BTW, anyone have a direct link to the GP Knives video? It's not coming up for me. Thanks in advance.

Probably marketing. The Charm isn’t what most people think of when they go for a Cold Steel.

They should have pushed the knife more so it could have fallen in with the other modern slipjoints we see like the Benchmade Proper and the Lionsteel Roundhead.

I know this model was discontinued by Cold Steel, obviously for being a poor seller.
That said, I purchased one of them directly from CS's website when they were closing them out.
CS has been known to offer things from all sorts of different categories, and it just seemed pretty cool that at one end of the folding knife spectrum they offered the huge XL Espada, and on the other end the tiny Charm.
CS had the Charm made for them by Maserin of Italy, and tiny folding knives is a specialty for that firm. The blade steel choice made it a bit unique as well, since it's not a material that one would have expected to be used on such a small knife. It's styling, at least in my eyes, is reminiscent of a Buck model 110, (sans the lock-back mechanism). As for it's build quality... I feel it's very nice indeed.
Anyhow, they did not offer them for very long, maybe a couple/few years at most, (although they are still available on some vendor websites). This makes them a good collectable, which is what my hobby mostly is... Items that I collect for my own personal pleasure, and to keep well maintained for posterity. Even so, the knife is definitely well enough made to be kept in one' jean' watch pocket for use on small tasks. It also makes for a great conversation piece that can be taken with you at all times.

It's definitely not for everyone, but although it's very small, it's quality construction can offer more than it just being a novelty :)
