I'm looking at getting a CS Master Hunter. I don't like the belt loops personaly. I know they are removable. How suffecient is the retention for stand alone use? I would use something like a teklock or the ESEE paracord beltloop trick. Thanks!!!! :)
P.S. I have been watching the CS dvd only because Noss made me cry when I saw him break a FFBM. I thought that was impossible!

I have a Master Hunter, and I wouldn't trust the sheath without the snap closure as well.

The knife is held in by friction between the handle and the sheath, rather than by a lip like other kydex/concealex sheaths I've seen. It's good not to have anything scratching the rubber handle, which I would assume is why CS did it that way. The tradeoff is that you need something to actually hold the knife in the sheath.

I thought about making a kydex sheath for the knife, but I was concerned that it would be too hard on the handle. If I were going to change to another sheath, I might try to find a leather one.

Thank you for answering my question! I just don't like the flopping around belt thing. (same reason I don't want a molle lock for me ESEE4) How bad is it? I like really loose kydex sheaths, unless they use a good thumbramp. I don't like tugging my belt all aroung trying to get the knife out.
