I really like my Counterpoint XL. But the one thing that I really don't like is the pocket clip is polished stainless steel. Does anybody know how I can Patina stainless steel? Boiling it in vinegar?. Or bluing or something? I don't want to paint it. I'm just trying to figure out how do I get a Polish finish black or close to it. Thank you in advance for your answers fellows.

You may be able to Cold blue it. I'd give that a go, or maybe find another clip that would fit it. Good luck,

A few options are-

Have it sand blasted.

Hand sand it to a satin finish.

Both of those options will retain a silver look, but won't be quite as shiny.

I think it's a safe bet that anything you try to coat it with yourself won't last long.

I was thinking some kind of black paint but I know it's going to come off like you're saying. I'm going to try this and put some blue on it. I don't think it'll work on stainless steel though.

I don't know if they will fit your particular knife, or how you feel about deep-pocket clips, but I just did a Google search for "cold steel black pocket clips" and it appears both Amazon and Etsy sell black ones for a few Cold Steel knives.

If you perform a similar search you will see the results on the first page. The one on Amazon is described as being for a Black Talon 2, and the one I saw on Etsy is described as being for a Recon 1. So if the screw hole configuration of those knives match yours, they should fit. Just check to see if the vendors have a return policy in case they don't fit if you go that route.

Thanks for the tip I'm going to look into that right now
