I made the mistake of buying the smaller version of that knife at a training seminar - it's complete crap and not worth $5. Of course, this is just one guy's opinion but it's one of the rare times where I like the knife less the more I handled it.

yeah i ordered the smaller one, but accidentally put up the pic of the big one lol.....

can you elaborate a bit more? why did you find the knife to be so bad? i saw a video of it on youtube and it really looked nice, i really hope i am not in for a big disappointment :(

i have recently become interested in fixed blades, but the california laws seem to be a bit confusing.

our knife laws here in california are actually decent. folders can be any size, and we can wear large fixed blades openly if we want to. our gun laws our lame though, but everyone who wants more firepower like ak47's just takes a drive to a nevada pawn shop and picks up whatever he wants and brings it back.

all the guns laws do is make it harder for law abiding citizens to defend themselves. i fear that in the near future, we are going to have a lot of anti gun, anti self defense people in office due to the extremely bad taste that the iraq war, and other tragedies like colombine and vtech, have left in the mouths of the younger generations :( our founding fathers wanted to make sure that we the people were to never be disarmed by the government.

Yep, CA knife laws are pretty decent overall. There are a few spots where the law is stricter(LA, SF) but a double edged knife is fine as long as it is unconcealed on the belt.

They're few boot knives/daggers that are well build on the market. And I have a hard time believing what you said, because Cold Steel makes the counter tac and that's one of the best out there. Their tac is better than the boot knife Smith and Wesson makes, Kershaw, and few others make.

And to answer the Thread Starters(TS) question, I don't believe it's legal to carry the tac 1 concealed in any state. It might be legal to carry the tac 2 in other states, but it's not legal to carry in Kalifornia from what i've read.

In Los Angeles, no, not at all, unconcealed or otherwise, unless you are engaging in some legitimate sporting or work activity at the time.... not sure if that can come off as a fishing knife or roofing tool :)

Incorrect info! I really hate it when people WAG(wild ass guess) It's not hard to find factual info you can link to.

http://www.equalccw.com/knifelaw.html#SECTION TWO

Parts of Penal Code 12020 cover street carry of knives.* It also flat bans some types.
12020.* (a) Any person in this state who does any of the following is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or in the state prison:
(1) Manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, or possesses...any ballistic knife...any nunchaku...any metal knuckles, any belt buckle knife, any leaded cane, any zip gun, any shuriken [ed: "throwing star"]...any lipstick case knife, any cane sword, any shobi-zue, any air gauge knife, any writing pen knife, any metal military practice handgrenade or metal replica handgrenade, or any instrument or weapon of the kind commonly known as a blackjack, slungshot, billy, sandclub, sap, or sandbag.* [Ed. Note: this is the paragraph covering "what you cannot own at all" - some of it is downright weird.* Plastic/ceramic knives that can go through a metal detector are also banned somewhere in PC12020.]
...
(4) Carries concealed upon his or her person any dirk or dagger.
...
(24) As used in this section, a "dirk" or "dagger" means a knife or other instrument with or without a handguard that is capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon that may inflict great bodily injury or death.* A nonlocking folding knife, a folding knife that is not prohibited by Section 653k, or a pocketknife is capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon that may inflict great bodily injury or death only if the blade of the knife is exposed and locked into position.* [Ed. note: so if it's a PC653k-legal knife, and it's carried concealed while folded, it's not "readily available" and therefore doesn't meet the "dirk or dagger definition".* ONLY "dirks or daggers" need to be open-carry.]
...
25(d) Knives carried in sheaths which are worn openly suspended from the waist of the wearer are not concealed within the meaning of this section.

Nowhere in any of this is there a length limit, or a ban on double-edge.* Note the way "dirk or dagger" is completely re-defined ("readily available stabbing implement").

Once again, LOCAL LAWS may apply, but CA state law is pretty relaxed.

Just posting to confirm that this blade is legal for open carry.

safe travels.

Let me start off first by saying that I hope you like the knife, as I don't really wish bad things - what doesn't work for me perhaps will work for you great.

The first thing that I didn't like was how difficult it was to draw - the sheath was just too tight - and no amount of working it on my part was able to loosen it.

Someone above mentioned the flat grind on one side - count me in the crowd that hates that as well. Finally, when I hold it there's no comforting "heft" to the knife. There's no feel to the knife, it's neither point nor handle heavy.

I was hoping for a knife i could wear as a quick draw "clinch pick" style knife but I was just disappointed. If we could figure out a way to do it, I would sell it to you for $10.00 - it's in a box in my basement doing nothing right now.

Oh, thanks for being a dick about it.

Perhaps if you hadn't contradicted my post just prior to yours without any supporting links other than, "I read it somewhere" I wouldn't have been so blatant in my post. I wanted the OP to have correct info and it's a pet peeve of mine to have information stated as fact when it's incorrect.

I apologize if you feel offended.

Well thank you.

I had a hard time believing what was illegal in Missouri would be legal in California. I read the MO laws, and I'm still confused on what double edge knifes are legal to carry (length, concealment, scariness, etc). They purposely make those laws hard to read and understand:mad:

And now I will take my new pretty yellow box and go elsewhere:D
