S Shaun Cazin should I give up all hope of Cold Steel providing the part I need?

Here is a good example Cold Steel of dropping the ball on service and support - Cold Steel refused to sell a well loved knifemaker here on the forum a replacement Pivot Pin/Barrel for his Cold Steel Code 4, which was lost (I think while cleaning it). I'd read the whole thread.

David Mary Knives Experience

The response when he called Cold Steel - post inside the thread if you don't read the whole thing:

No Such Luck

He was even trying to trade some of his knife making work in barter for another Code 4:

Yes I would say so.

I eventually got an email back regarding a thumb stud that fell off a black bladed (dlt limited edition one) and they said they don't have spare parts for the black bladed "Limited edition" so I said no worries that it isn't black... A plain silver one will be fine ;) I know you have those as they are on your website and you sell them direct! .......... silence!......... You have just reminded to chase this up as basically it was faulty as it either snapped off (unlikely) or it wasn't tight and it came off that way (I never remember it being lose) I have original invoice from a listed dealer!

My advice is every 1000 knives you have made from your manufacturers get them to send you 10 knives in parts? Then,..... YOU HAVE SPARE PARTS! it can't be that hard? Can it?

All Cold Steel Knives come with a driveway guarantee. Once you drive away to guarantee is over

You mean you spoke to someone that actually knew what a thumb stud was? You see things are getting better already

I just read a post from 2020 where a guy lost a screw from a Gerber knife, he called Gerber, and they sent him a free set of new screws. And that's freakin' GERBER! 😁.

Hey GSM/Cold Steel, in case anyone is still reading this forum, you could go a long way towards things like good public relations, customer loyalty, and increased sales if you had some system in place for people to buy or receive replacement hardware. I imagine that could be a one-man operation.

A lot of people USE their Cold Steel knives, and when you use hard-use knives hard they can get dirty and full of crud. So it's only natural that people are going to take them apart to give them a thorough cleaning and inspect for wear. And every now and then a part is going to get lost.

It would be nice if Cold Steel customer service could be at least as good as Gerber.

On a somewhat related note, I dropped a tiny washer the other day for a knife I was building, and when I went to pick it up I found a screw I didn't even know I had dropped. Stuff happens 😁.

I hope you manage to get a new pivot David. Good luck.

Does anybody know of a working Cold Steel Customer Service phone number? Any experience working with them? Thank you!
The simple answer to that would be no. You're not going to get anywhere with cold steel parts or service anymore.
